O Favoured One
‘O Favoured One’ is located in the Learning Courtyard. Created by Pauline Clayton and commissioned to celebrate the century of the College in 1997.
The statue presents Mary reaching out to the Angel Gabriel, promising her a son who would be the Messiah. Mary’s acceptance of Gabriel’s promise required immense courage and determination.
Today we celebrate Mary as a model of faith and courage, and are inspired by her words, “Here I am, servant of the Lord, be it done to me according to your word”. (Luke 1:38)
