Mary, The First Disciple

A humble village girl, chosen to be the Mother of Jesus. Mary was a woman of devotion and prayer.

“Mary dreamed all these words and pondered them in her heart” (Luke 2:19)

This statue, located at the Bruton building entrance of the College, represents the traditional Mary. She is a model of faith and trust – trust in God and in God’s promise of a son who would be called Son of the Most High.

Mary’s faith in these mysterious promises is an example to all of the perfect trust in God’s loving providence.
