Annual College Musical

For decades, St Columba’s College and St Bernard’s College have shared a proud and enduring partnership in the Performing Arts; a tradition that has become a much-loved part of both College communities.

Each year, the joint College musical stands as a centrepiece of this partnership, bringing together students across acting, music, dance, technical theatre and backstage production to create performances of remarkable scale and quality. These productions are more than performances alone; they are transformative learning experiences that encourage students to explore their creativity, challenge themselves and contribute to something larger than themselves.

The Performing Arts play a vital role in nurturing the qualities that prepare students for life beyond the classroom. Through involvement in College productions, students develop communication skills, resilience, empathy, collaboration and creative problem-solving, while learning the value of commitment, professionalism and teamwork in a supportive environment.

Students are encouraged to participate in every facet of the production process, both on stage and behind the scenes. Opportunities extend far beyond acting and singing, with students contributing to choreography, orchestra, costume and set design, lighting, sound, stage management, makeup, publicity and production support. This breadth of involvement ensures every student can discover and develop their unique talents and interests.

Our annual musical remains one of the most anticipated events on the College calendar; a vibrant celebration of creativity, community and the enduring power of storytelling.

In 2026, the Colleges are proud to present a magical reimagining of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast; a beloved musical theatre classic celebrated for its unforgettable score, rich storytelling and spectacular theatricality. Presented across a two-week season, the production continues a long-standing tradition of excellence that audiences have come to expect from our annual musical.
